Unlike Mondays, day 1 of a new routine is always the
easiest. You’re goals and your mission are still crystal clear. You haven’t had
had a chance to come across those tempting donuts or French fries, or pizza. In
other words, I’m feeling good. I took a trip to the grocery store, sticking to
the outside aisles where you'll mostly find all of the unprocessed, fresh food. For my first week I’m going to do my version of a detox- cleansing my body of
everything I’ve eaten for the last three weeks. There is something about
the way you feel when you eat lean, healthy foods in the right quantity that
makes you feel empowered and sexy that junk food and over-indulgence
doesn’t.
My meals constantly change and I am someone that likes to constantly switch up what I'm eating so I'm not specifically labeling my meals. It will be all about eating healthy, clean, and in appropriate quantities. I'm a BIG emotional eater- sad, bored... you name it and I enjoy eating. If I know it tastes good and it's sitting in front of me, it's really hard for me to say no. That will be my biggest challenge.
For exercise, I will participating in an event called The
Ragnar at the end of September. It is a two-day overnight running event where
each team member (there are 10 of us) have to run three separate times. I am
runner #4 and will be running 3, 8, and 4 mile legs. While I’m not so concerned
about the individual distances, its more about running it all within 24 hours
and not knowing what time of day it will be at. It’s all dependent on the speed
in which each of the teammates before and after you finish their sections.
Here's my training plan. I don't intend on doing a 5K race, but the mileage planner will work for me and will still allow me to maintain my work schedule and working on the business as well.
One important thing to remember when training for the event is to train as close to the conditions you will be competing in, and since my event will be outdoors and has potential to be all types of weather I will be doing all of my cardio outdoors. Any weight lifting and core strengthening work I do will be after work.
Here's to staying positive, motivated, and focused. Time to relax on this sunny, warm Sunday afternoon and really start to focus on the next 8 weeks. Once you figure out what you REALLY want and how you're going to get there is when things start to get interesting for everyone around you that isn't focused. They may not understand and some may try to distract you, but it's important to remind yourself why you're making the choices you are and why you want to accomplish what you've set out to do.
