Starting a blog is difficult- not in the obvious let-me-just-ramble kind of way, but in figuring out what is
interesting enough for you to maintain for the long haul, and is interesting
enough to gain the attention and respect of those around you. So why this one? I’m tired of starting over and taking
steps backward when it comes to the pursuit of my goals. We all know the sayings:
“Fall down seven. Get up eight.”
“It’s not what happens to you that matters. It’s how you
respond.”
“It’s only failure
when you don’t get back up again.”
Take your pick- they all say the same
thing: keep going until you’re happy with the result. Well... I’m not happy. While I’ve done my share of what many would say is noteworthy including
riding a bicycle across the country, moved across the country by myself a
couple of times, and received some recognition for being a female in a male
dominated sport, it doesn’t feel like enough. All of it has played a
significant role in who I am as a person today, but what effect has it had as a
whole? Why do I feel like I’m still missing so much and feel so unaccomplished? How do I fill this void?
One thing I’ve known about myself for a very long time is that I wanted to
start a business. I wanted to start something from the ground up and make it successful while having a positive impact on the world around me. I want to create a business that truly means something. I want to change the world.
In 2007 I participated in a cross-country bicycle
(yes, the man powered kind with each foot on its own pedal) trip from Jacksonville, FL to San Francisco, CA with an organization called Bike And
Build. Bike and Build organizes and implements these trips to raise funds and awareness
for affordable housing. We stayed in a different town\city each night, and in
select locations we gave presentations, helped build homes, do landscaping, and
more. Sure I wanted to say I rode a bicycle across America because that in
itself is pretty amazing, but it turned into so much more than that. The types
of people I met and the looks on the faces of the families we built the homes
for were priceless.
Fast forward a couple of years… I was part of an independent group project my last semester of grad school that created the branding, advertising, and business plan for a mobile app
that would allow you to turn your everyday physical activities, such as
running, walking, and bicycling into charitable donations for the charity of your choice. We all graduated and to make a long story short I was the only person who chose to continue running with the idea. I ended up finding a partner in the business and we have renamed and
started rebranding it as Synergia Effect. It is a registered 501(c)3 Non-Profit organization, and we are currently waiting on our Federal Tax EIN number from the IRS. It’s about changing the world one mile at a time.
The tagline in itself is what I want to do- Change The
World. To change the world, you have to be willing to change yourself in a way
that is in line with your brand. You have to be, live, and breathe your brand.
It’s time I do that. It’s time for me to stop making excuses, stop being lazy,
and follow my gut.
That brings us to this blog. Synergia is all about being
active and healthy, and turning that into something that helps others. I want
to use this blog to track my progress and pitfalls as a change my lifestyle to
be a healthier, more fit, and beneficial tool for Synergia. I will track my
diet, post recipes, workout routines, events I participate in, and the
challenges of the process. I want you to learn from my
experiences, challenges, knowledge, and failures, and be able to succeed in
something for themselves. Let’s Change the World one day at a time.
Yours truly,
Breanna

You are one of my heroes, Maybe it's not what you are waiting to hear, but trust me, when you help someone without expecting applauses, when you make a new friend even when the other person is completely lost, that should be a small push towards your happiness. And that is what I've learned from you. Keep up the great work you've been doing, and I know sooner than expected, you'll be GREAT PHILANTHROPIST, not just an inspiring one. You already are a great human being to me, if that helps a little :)
